A good candidate has symptoms in the pudendal nerve territory, a positional pattern, a supportive response to a diagnostic block, and no better explanation from previous investigations.
Widespread pain with no nerve-specific pattern, or pain fully explained by another condition, is usually better served by other treatment. Saying so honestly is part of the job.
