Pudendal nerve surgery for New York and US patients.
A New York-based remote review of your MRI, nerve blocks and symptom history — before anyone talks about an operation.
Most people who reach us from New York, New Jersey and the wider United States have already seen four or five specialists without an answer. We begin the other way round: your MRI, prior nerve blocks and symptom timeline are reviewed remotely by Dr Renaud Bollens, and you are told plainly whether the pudendal nerve is the real source of your pain. Patients in Sweden follow the same route through our Nordic branch. Travel is only ever the last step, never the first.

How patients from New York reach a pudendal nerve surgeon
Pudendal neuralgia is rarely the first diagnosis anyone receives in the United States. It is common to be treated for interstitial cystitis, chronic prostatitis, endometriosis or "pelvic floor dysfunction" for years before the nerve itself is examined. Very few surgeons in the US operate on the pudendal nerve regularly, which is why patients in New York often find that the waiting list is not the obstacle — finding someone who reads the imaging correctly is.
Our US desk exists to remove the expensive part of that search. The assessment happens before you buy a ticket: imaging review, a call in your own time zone, and an honest answer about whether surgery would change anything. Roughly half the people who write to us are told that decompression is not indicated, and they get a written explanation of why, together with what to ask their own team next.
If surgery is appropriate, the operation itself is performed in our European or Dubai centre, where Dr Bollens has completed over 600 pudendal nerve procedures. Everything else — the workup, the consenting conversation and the entire follow-up — is designed to be done from home in the US.
- 1
Week 1 — New York case review
You upload your pelvic MRI, any EMG or nerve-block reports and a short symptom history. Dr Bollens reads the imaging himself and answers in writing, in English, within a few working days. Nothing is scheduled at this stage.
- 2
Week 2 — Video consultation, US hours
A 30-45 minute call booked in Eastern Time. We go through what the imaging shows, what your previous blocks did or did not prove, and whether decompression is realistic in your case. If it is not, we say so and suggest what to pursue at home.
- 3
Surgery window — one trip, planned around your work
Patients who proceed travel once. Admission, surgery and the first post-operative checks are grouped into a single stay, with the discharge summary written so a physician in New York can carry on your follow-up.
- 4
After you fly home
Recovery is followed by video call at set intervals. Your notes, operative report and imaging are shared with your US pain specialist or physiotherapist so nobody has to start from scratch.
Time zone
Consultations are offered in Eastern Time, so you are not calling a surgeon at 3 a.m.
Records
US imaging on CD or via a hospital portal is accepted; we convert and read DICOM files directly.
Cost clarity
A written estimate covering surgery, hospital stay and follow-up is issued before you commit to travel.

Our expertise
A surgical team built around one nerve.
More than 600 pudendal nerve procedures performed to date. Chronic pelvic pain and pudendal neuralgia are not a sideline here — they are the only thing this centre does.
Recognising your symptoms
Pain that keeps coming back is not imaginary — it usually means the cause was never located.
Typical signs: pain on sitting, a burning ache, deep pelvic pressure, or urinary and sexual symptoms.
Use the cards below to match what you feel against what we look for, and to see how an assessment runs.
Why patients choose us
One field. Detailed imaging. A straight answer.
Difficult cases need precision, experience and enough consultation time to actually listen.
People usually find us after pelvic pain has gone unexplained somewhere else. The way we work is built for exactly those cases: careful reading of the imaging, surgical experience, and appointments long enough to hear the whole history.

Booking FAQ
Booking your consultation
Practical answers about the process, cost, insurance and what to expect after you get in touch.
What happens after I submit the booking form?
Our patient coordinator reviews your message and replies within one working day by email or WhatsApp, in strict confidence. We'll suggest a time for an online consultation with Dr Bollens.
Is the first consultation online or in person?
The first consultation is typically a video call, so you don't need to travel. We review your history and imaging, then advise whether an in-person visit at our Dubai or Belgium center is appropriate.
How much does a consultation cost?
Consultation fees are shared privately when we confirm your appointment. We're transparent about pricing before you commit and answer any insurance questions upfront.
Do you accept insurance?
We work with several international and regional insurers (AXA, Daman, MetLife, Emirates, NAS, Mednet, Nextcare and more). Coverage depends on your specific policy — send us your details and we'll check for you.
What information should I have ready?
A short description of your symptoms, how long they've lasted, and any previous evaluations, imaging or treatments. You can send documents securely after booking — nothing is required upfront.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes. You can reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your appointment — just reply to the confirmation email or message us on WhatsApp.
Is my information kept private?
Absolutely. All communications and medical records are treated with strict medical confidentiality and are only accessible to the clinical team involved in your care.
