Pain that begins after a pelvic operation and does not follow the expected healing curve should raise the question of nerve injury, entrapment in scar tissue or fixation by mesh.
The pattern matters: pain in a nerve territory, triggered by position, with altered sensation, is different from ordinary post-operative soreness.
Dr Bollens assesses post-surgical cases regularly, including patients who have had several operations already. Reviewing operative notes is a standard part of that work-up.
