Standard pelvic MRI is designed to look at organs, not at a small peripheral nerve. A normal report is common in pudendal neuralgia and is not reassurance that nothing is wrong.
Dedicated sequences and MR neurography can add information, but the diagnosis remains primarily clinical, supported by imaging and block response.
We ask patients to send existing imaging before the consultation so that the review adds to the picture rather than repeating scans unnecessarily.
